PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and oversee a minimum of one on-site after-school program for students in grades K-12 residing at subsidized housing facilities. Develop a lively, student-centered and exploratory atmosphere that includes: Assisting students in academic subjects, such as reading, writing, math, and other areas. Supervise implementation of academic, enrichment, health, and recreational extra-curricular after school learning experiences for students. Activities to include: homework assistance, learning games, enrichment and creative activities that reinforce learning and social skills.
- Assess each student’s needs for academic support. Build cooperative working relationships with parents, school personnel and resident services staff to further the achievement of program goals and objectives.
- Initiate frequent, on-going communication with teachers, school administrators, resident services staff and parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Ensure student safety by implementing a respectful environment with strong routines and high expectations for student behavior. Work positively and effectively with students in extended learning activities and ensure appropriate use of tools to identify the unsolved problems and lagging skills underlying challenging behavior.
- Work with, support and lend guidance to volunteer tutors and/or enrichment instructors as needed in after-school Homework Clubs. Coordinate volunteer activities to support individual and group learning activities. Facilitate on-going appreciation activities to encourage volunteer motivation and retention.
- Support LearnLinks evaluation plan and program monitoring activities by implementing evaluation tools, surveys and data collection activities as required. Collect program data on students including but not limited to attendance, various demographics, activities/projects performed, youth achievement stories and field trips.
- Coordinate ongoing enrollment and promotional activities in collaboration with on-site staff and school personnel to encourage high attendance and student participation rates. Maintain a maximum number of students and waiting lists for the purpose of allowing maximum participation of students.
Secondary Functions
- Submit all required documentation on a timely basis.
- Contribute to researching, planning and creating curriculum to be used in after-school clubs.
- Provide transportation for clients in YWCA vehicles as need for field trips and other designated activities. Follow protocol for van safety and responsibly report any repairs/needs to the Program Manager immediately.
- As needed, assist with volunteer recruitment, program promotion or other outreach activities as needed and time allows.
- Participate in planned supervisory meetings and paid professional development training.
- Actively monitor self care and employ ongoing stress management techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, Experience and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, or related human services discipline with a minimum of 2 years related experience. Good knowledge of child development theory.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of one full school year, preference is at least 2.
- Strong facilitation, organizational, and interpersonal skills with proven trouble-shooting, coordination, and multi-tasking capabilities; excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience working with diverse constituents.
- Ability to directly and respectfully communicate needs and concerns to Program Manager and fellow staff.
- High level of professionalism, creativity, energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and appropriately manage stress levels.
- Skill working with community organizations; familiarity with youth enrichment needs and resources; knowledge of public school environment preferred.
- Knowledge of outcome based lesson planning and current best practices in youth development work.
- Experience working with low- income families and children
- Some experience in programming for older students who are disconnected from traditional school or work opportunities.
- Spanish, Russian or Somali fluency or competency preferred.

CHILDRENS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide assistance to children and parents, including but not limited to one-on-one, age-appropriate safety planning, positive parenting support, respite care and meeting / group child care, community referrals, and advocacy. Develop children and teen programming, including recruiting and supervising volunteers. Collect data and submit reports, as required by funders. Perform outreach and community education as needed. Solicit, manage and respond to donations for shelter. Function as a team member with other staff to assure efficient, effective operation of the shelter.
Children’s Program
- Work with individual children to create age-appropriate safety plans as required by funding.
- Model positive discipline and intervention techniques when working with children.
- Identify, develop, and acquire resources for parents, including materials on positive discipline, children’s / teen’s development, age-appropriate abilities and expectations.
- Advise the Primary and Shelter Advocates in situations involving parenting.
- Oversee organization and upkeep of children- and teen-specific areas of shelter.
- Develop and supervise children’s program activities, including activities away from the facility.
- Assure best practices in confidentiality and security of all client information.
- Provide child Intakes and needs assessments of children.
- Act as a liaison between parents, children, and community agencies, as needed.
- Train and supervise volunteers working within the children and teens
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend scheduled meetings and trainings.
- Act as Person in Charge (PIC) when assigned.
- As part of a team with other Yolanda House staff, coordinate services provided to residents per Yolanda House protocols.
- As needed and appropriate, answer crisis line, conduct initial phone screenings, make referrals or arrange shelter entry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and Experience (Required):
Requires Bachelors degree in Child Development or related field. Related experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the educational requirement.
Training and related experience in advocacy and volunteer management.
Must have education or experience in positive discipline and parenting skills, and feel strong commitment to working with and advocating for children.
Knowledge of domestic violence, community resources, and related laws strongly preferred.
Requires timely completion of contractually required 40-hours training in Domestic Violence or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience working in domestic violence.
Must have access to own reliable transportation
Must have access to a telephone.
Valid Driver's License
Requires regular local travel
Prolonged computer use

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with seniors and persons with disabilities in a small group exercise room. Responsible for assessing members’ current fitness status, assigning, monitoring and re-evaluating personal fitness programs. As potential first contact with new exercisers, maintain a high degree of professionalism and provide a caring and welcoming environment for all fitness club users
JOB DUTIES:
- Ensure that the YWCA Mission (the empowerment of women and girls and the elimination of racism) is implemented in each fitness program.
- Provide realistic, personalized written programs that accounts for participants’ wishes, needs, possible limitations and possible medical conditions.
- Guide participants through training with attention to detail and each member’s specific needs.
- Obtain medical releases from all members signed up for personal training prior to start of program.
- Keep accurate records of all transactions. Maintain database with daily upkeep of information, alerting supervisor of any problems.
- Stay informed about new research and development in the field of personal fitness.
- Help to maintain a clean and safe environment for members.
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, exercise principles and safety precautions
- Demonstrated knowledge, skill and ability in proficient use of office equipment, and exercise equipment.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, PC tracking software in fitness conditioning/evaluation.
- Must meet all local health regulation requirements including criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides supervision and pro-social support for female residents. General responsibility for monitoring, crisis intervention, rule and procedure enforcement. Functions as a team member with other staff.
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervise compliance of residents to program rules and regulations.
- As part of team, provide support and monitoring pursuant to resident case plans.
- Conduct surveilled urine collection from and give breathalyzer to residents in accordance with TOP procedures.
- Maintain written records and logs as required.
- Conduct room inspections, room and individual searches, head counts.
- Assist with food service program and supervise resident activity in the kitchen.
- Participate in residential accountability program by completing incident reports and enforcing sanctions.
- Conduct and participate in evacuation drills, maintaining logs as required.
- Attend scheduled meetings and trainings.
- Perform minor clerical support including filing, copying and light word processing.
- Make phone contacts with treatment providers, employers, residents and others in the community to monitor resident’s accountability.
- Supervise resident program activities, including, if needed, activities away from the facility.
- May complete initial intake with new residents.
- Use best practices, including but not limited to reflective listening, motivational interviewing, strength-based learning, to assist residents in meeting goals.
- Train residents in community responsibilities and community good citizenship.
- Communicate shift occurrences accurately and fully to incoming staff.
- Protect all client information as strictly confidential and only available on permitted need-to-know basis.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires current certificates for CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler’s card.

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide 24/7 crisis line assistance and orientation of pre-screened survivors entering shelter. Provide support to case managers, and supervision and support to residents. Promote self-efficacy and self-sufficiency through role modeling. Have general responsibility for monitoring, crisis intervention, rules, procedures, facility operations and routine maintenance. Function as a team member with other staff. This position provides coverage for regular Shelter Advocates’ absences. Performance should be similar to regular Shelter Advocates except where duties are omitted and with a lower standard of expectations commensurate with an on-call position.
